So, what’s up with Portland?
Raven Zachary, April 18, 2006 @ 11:02 pm ETI’m in Portland, Oregon, this week for open source briefings and the InnoTech Conference. Portland has been getting attention as a hub of open source activity, and I don’t just mean as the home of Linus Torvalds. Today, I had meetings at the Open Technology Business Center (OTBC) and Compiere, and had dinner with open source champions Scott Kveton, Jon Perr, and David Pool. I can’t forget lunch with our own Greg Quick and coffee with Wyatt Starnes, the former CEO of Tripwire who’s now over at startup SignaCert. This is my second visit to Portland. I was here last August for OSCON, which will be returning to Portland in late July this year.
I will be posting notes from Portland this week, as I explore what’s up here with open source.

The OSDL headquarters are located in Oregon. Do you have any plans to go there during your visit?
I would like to see pictures of their labs and know more about the people that work there.

looking forward to your updates and notes about your visit to Portland.
I am meeting with Stuart Cohen, their CEO, on Thursday at the InnoTech conference. I was planning to visit their offices in Beaverton, but Stuart was in Japan yesterday (I believe). I’ll be curious to find out more about the recently announced Portland Project, among other things.
