Attack of the Red Herrings

Raven Zachary, May 22, 2006 @ 4:35 pm ET

Wow…there were a lot of press releases today from open source vendors (and open source oriented vendors) named as finalists for the “Red Herring 100 North America” list (vendors are only eligible if they are privately held). I checked out Red Herring to see exactly which vendors were included.

BitTorrent, Black Duck Software, CollabNet, EnterpriseDB, Funambol, Ingres, JasperSoft, LogLogic, Medsphere, Pentaho, rPath, Socialtext, SpikeSource, Zimbra

14, by my count (7% of the total finalists). I probably missed a few, based on your own criteria for classifying a vendor as “open source”.
