Compiere’s partner network, and geographic reach, keeps growing

Martin Schneider, July 11, 2006 @ 9:54 am ET

Open source ERP/CRM vendor Compiere has added a dozen new partners. The new partners include Avanted, Cobweb, Dassou, DATALP, HyperData, Intelligent Business Systems, Omega/TGI, Open Mind Consultancy, Pantaservice, Proxima, Seath Solutions and Transitional Data Services. As a member of the global partner network, these companies are trained by Compiere to provide implementation, integration, customization and support services to Compiere users.

These partners are mostly in Europe, where Compiere has seen a lot of uptake and partner growth, but other are in South America, India and in the US.  We see Compiere, as well as other open source ERP vendors, as having a lot of potential upside. After all, most ERP implementations require a LOT of customization, even those that are labeled as vertically pre-configured. The obvious cost savings of being able to crack at the source code yourself is becomming more evident, and folks like Ned Lilly of OpenMFG tell us that more and more companies are turning on to the concept out of frustration with proprietary ERP suites. Previous issues with open source, like security of financial and missionc ritical data, scalability etc. are fading away. We expect the next couple of years to bring some serious disruption to the larger ERP giants out there.
