Optaros raises $13m in Series B

Raven Zachary, November 20, 2006 @ 11:24 pm ET

Optaros, an open source systems integrator based in the Boston area, has raised an additional $13m in a Series B investment round, lead by Globespan Capital (press release). This follows a $7m Series A investment in March 2005 by Charles River Ventures and General Catalyst Partners. Both Charles River Ventures and General Catalyst Partners also participated in the Series B investment round. Although the company initially launched with a focus on open source, the services portfolio has since increased to include ‘Next Generation Internet’ - Web 2.0, rich interfaces, and SOA. Two of the firm’s most visible participants in the open source community, Robert “r0ml” Lefkowitz and Stephen Walli, have departed the company in the past year to pursue other opportunities.
