Raven Zachary, June 25, 2007 @ 10:04 am ET

Centric CRM: June 13th funding announcement (press release) of an undisclosed amount (per the deal terms) by Intel Capital. This is the first time the company has taken an institutional investment, with prior investments having come from the company founders, executives, and three angel investors, totaling a few million. Centric CRM indicated that the amount invested by Intel Capital was in line with similar Series A investments in the space. Centric CRM is an open source customer relationship management (CRM) software vendor. Although the company provides the source code to its CRM product, it does not use an OSI-approved open source license.

Openads: June 12th funding announcement (press release) of $5m in Series A led by Index Ventures, with participation from First Round Capital, Mangrove Capital Partners, and O’Reilly AlphaTech Ventures. Openads creates an open source ad server used by online publishers to control the display of ads, based on the successful open source project, phpAdsNew.
