Red Hat on Mad Money

Matthew Aslett, July 31, 2008 @ 9:49 am ET

There is no one - or nothing - on British TV like Jim Cramer. To me he is a quintessentially American TV personality. No matter what some might think of his track record there’s no denying the man has influence.

His interview with Jim Whitehurst, CEO of Red Hat is an entertaining (if superficial) four and a half minutes as they discuss the company’s battle with Microsoft and Oracle.

Jim Whitehurst does a good job of publicly dismissing Microsoft while claiming not to compete with Windows. My favourite comment though has to be “I don’t see Oracle as really assaulting us”. Jim Cramer is certainly convinced despite admitting that he finds the company “hard to understand.”

Meanwhile the New York Times also has some, dare I say it, interesting and slightly more sober analysis.
