Interresting , but I would like to speak more about free software in place of open source. open source as methodology is really a good point , technically , but if going behond open source, it s directly go on the questions of freedom . And theses questions is directly inside the general questions of ethic , and in computer , is specifically inside what s called cyber ethic or computer ethic . Free software is a way to establish a a relationship with users that is not the domination of the propriatary software (we can see theses domination in the general idea of not open the source , but in more specific way in the closed file format control , control that go behond the software itself and going into the questions of the users right to access his own informations ) .

I don't think we "won " , for severals reason :

first as it was sayd there is not enough adoption of the free software 4 .
second : because the end users generally doesn't know the issue of digital freedom or other cyber ethic issu , then it can't thik about it , and participate in the process . But finally he his the main concerned by it (because it s his information inside it )
third : Even if we win , I don't consider the win as a winning , or at least just a temporal winning , because if we don't he enough watchful , there is always a person who 'd like to take away the freedom and giving in place some messy advantage .(watch at the web 2.0 buzz and the questions of cloud computing and users data retention ... ) . In other way the surveillance sociaty seems coming quick and quicker . What good is it if open source is used everywhere to control everyone (imagine a Big Brother soiety that is runned witn free software ) . It s kind of joke .

so we haven't win , and even if we win we can lose our freedom in other part .
